BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Fazal A Talukdar obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from Regional Engineering College, Silchar (now, NIT Silchar) in 1987. He obtained his MTech in 1993 and PhD in 2002-03 from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and Jadavpur University respectively. He joined Regional Engineering College, Silchar as Lecturer in April 1991, became an Assistant Professor in March 1996 and rose to the level of Professor in May 2006. He was elevated to the level of a Professor (HAG) in 2018. Prior to joining Regional Engineering College, Silchar, he was a Lecturer in the Technical Education Department of the Government of Assam (August 1988 to March 1991). During 2006, he was a Visiting Scholar in the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), USA. He was Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from August 2006 to April 2009 and again from April 2018 to March 2020.

He was the first Dean (Alumni Relations) during 2012-13, and Dean (Academic Affairs) during 2013-15. During July 2004 to June 2009, he was the Registrar of NIT Silchar. He also held the post of Deputy Registrar (Accounts) from March 2005 to August 2007. Besides these, he worked in many other Committees of the Institute, He was also a member of PRSG of MeITY and was Performance Auditor of NIT Mizoram and NIT Sikkim under TEQIP-III. He is a fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of ISTE, and a Senior Member of IEEE. He was the President of, Institution’s Innovation Council during 2020- 2021. Currently, he is the Chair, IEEE Silchar Subsection and has been the Branch Counsellor of IEEE Students’ Branch/Society Chapters at NIT Silchar since 2010.
His research interests are Signal Processing, Communication, Power Electronics and Analog Circuit Design.
