BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Dr. R. K. Karsh was born in Chhattisgarh, India. He received his B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Government Engineering College Bilaspur, affiliated with Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekanand Technical University, Chhattisgarh, India. He earned his M.Tech. degree in Control Systems from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, Bihar, India, and his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar, Assam, India.

From September 28, 2010, to May 10, 2013, Dr. Karsh served as a Junior Teaching-Cum-Research Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, Ranchi (Patna Campus), Bihar. Since May 14, 2013, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at NIT Silchar, Assam, India.

Dr. Karsh has supervised 4 Ph.D. scholars, 6 M.Tech. students, and 25 undergraduate projects. He is the recipient of a DST-sponsored project and has published over 55 research articles in various international journals and conferences. He is a Fellow of IETE, a Senior Member of IEEE, and a member of both the IEEE Signal Processing Society and IET.

Dr. Karsh has received best paper awards from several prominent international conferences. He is an invited reviewer for numerous prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, IEEE Access, IET Image Processing, Journal of Applied Remote Sensing, Visual Computer, and Journal of Supercomputing. Additionally, he was awarded a scholarship by the government of Chhattisgarh for his excellence in schooling.

He has published over 45 journal and conference papers, contributed 10 book chapters, and holds 3 patents. His research interests include dynamic hand gesture recognition, sign language recognition, image hashing for image authentication, computer vision, pattern recognition, machine learning, and deep learning.
