Before joining NIT Silchar, I have served different organizations in different capacities like Lab Instructor, Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor for more than 14 years including Delhi Technological University, Delhi for around 3 years. In addition to this regular experience, I have also worked as Visiting Researcher at Queen’s University Canada and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, AIT Bangkok, Thailand.

About Taimoor Khan

Dr. Taimoor Khan was awarded his Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from National Institute of Technology Patna (NIT Patna). Dr. Khan joined the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the National Institute of Technology Silchar in November 2014 and presently, he is working as an Associate Professor. Before joining NIT Silchar, he served different organizations in different capacities like Lab Instructor, Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor for more than 14 years including Delhi Technological University, Delhi for around 3 years. In addition to this regular experience, Dr. Khan has also worked as Visiting Researcher at Queen’s University Canada and as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, AIT Bangkok, Thailand. His active research interest includes Ambient RF Energy Harvesting, Microwave Power Transfer, Ultra-Wideband Technologies, Machine Learning Techniques for Modeling and Optimization of Electromagnetics Problems, Electromagnetic Bandgap Structures and Dielectric Resonator based Microwave Components. Dr. Khan has successfully guided six Ph.D. Theses in the area of electromagnetic engineering and allied domain and presently supervising five Ph.D. students and published 74 research articles in well-indexed SCIE journals of repute and 54 research articles in world renowned flagship conference proceedings. He has successfully completed one major project and two minor projects funded by SERB, MHRD and AICTE, respectively and presently executing three collaborative projects including SPARC and VAJRA research projects with Queen’s University Canada and California State University, Northridge USA, financially sponsored by IEEE, MHRD and SERB, respectively. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Fellow of Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers India, Senior Member of IEEE USA, IEEE AP Society USA, IEEE MTT Society, USA and URSI, Belgium and also a member of the Editorial Board of Wiley’s International Journal of RF and Microwave Computer-Aided Engineering. Dr. Khan et al. has successfully edited total seven books including two research books; first titled “Elements of Radio Frequency Energy Harvesting and Wireless Power Transfer Systems” and another titled “Band-Notch Characteristics in Ultra-Wideband Antennas” published by CRC, Taylor and Francis, USA. Dr. Khan was recipient of a prestigious IETE-Prof SVC Aiya Memorial Award for the year 2020 for providing excellence guidance in the field of electronics and telecommunication research work particularly related to electromagnetic and microwave engineering. This award is instituted by the students of Prof S.V. Chandrashekhar Aiya in memory of their professor at IISc Bangalore. The Award is bestowed annually by IETE India to a person for providing excellence guidance in the field of electronics and telecommunication research work particularly related to electromagnetic and microwave engineering during the past five years. Dr. Khan was the luckiest one to receive this award for the year 2020 in 63rd Annual IETE Convention held on 27th September 2020. Dr. Khan is actively involved in IEEE activities and he was the founder chair of IEEE Silchar Subsection in the Year 2021 and presently, he is serving as Chair, IEEE Silchar Subsection and also, as a General Chair, IEEE SILCON-2022 (A Flagship Conference of Silchar Subsection). In addition, he is serving as a Faculty Advisor of IEEE MTT-S SBC at NIT Silchar, EC Member of both IEEE Kolkata Section and IEEE AP-MTTS Chapter of Kolkata Section, and Regional Coordinator of Asia Pacific (Region 10) for IEEE AP-S Chapter Activity Committee (CAC), IEEE AP-S Paper Awards Subcommittee and IEEE AP-S Chapter Award Committee all three for the year of 2022. Most recently, he has been nominated as Co-Chair, IEEE AP-S Best Paper Award Committee 2023.
